Warm & Safe Homes
We are proud to be working with a number of partners, and sponsorship from Wales & West Utilities, on the delivery of the Warm & Safe Homes project.
Our Community Energy Champions are currently visiting households in Cardiff, selected using our FRESH mapping software, to offer a range of free advice and support to help create warm and safe homes. From water bill savings to energy efficiency tips, money advice to home insulation, the champions are making a real difference to people’s lives.
The Cardiff Partners
What’s on offer?
Warm & Safe Homes is being delivered by our Community Energy Champions who will be offering a variety of services and partner referrals with the aim of helping people enjoy warmer and safer homes. These will include free smoke and CO detectors for qualifying householders, checking that the gas and electric tariffs are offering good value, and ensuring that all available grants and benefits are being claimed.
This is a small selection of the help and referrals on offer from our Community Energy Champions:
Priority Service Register – Every energy supplier has a priority service register to make sure they look after the people who need it most.
Warm Home Assistance – If your home isn’t benefiting from the gas network you may be able to claim a gas connection grant.
NEST – This offers householders a range of free, impartial advice and support to help people reduce energy bills, and for those eligible, free home energy efficiency improvements such as a new boiler, central heating or insulation.
WaterSure – For those on particular benefits who need to use a lot of water, the WaterSure scheme can help reduce the bills.
Help U Tariff – This tariff from Welsh Water offers support to those with a household income of less than £15,000 per year.
Slips trips and falls assessments – For over 60’s and private owners, Cardiff and Vale Care and Repair can offer a free home assessment.
Where is the scheme running?
The Warm & Safe homes project was launched in Llanishen, Cardiff during September 2017. Operating in partnership with Cardiff Council our Community Energy Champions will be supporting 2,000 homes over the winter of 2017/18.
With the project making a real difference to the lives of those we’ve helped, a rollout to the north and south west of Wales is planned for 2018. For updates on the scheme come back soon, or get in touch using the contact form.
